Why Choose West Beach Construction for Your Kitchen Renovation?
How a kitchen renovation runs
We measure and talk through how you cook, store and move around the room, then quote in writing. Cabinetry is ordered early because it has the longest lead time. On site the sequence is strip out, any structural or layout changes, plumbing and electrical rough-in, linings and painting, cabinetry installation, benchtop template and fit, then plumbing and electrical fit-off. We manage every trade in that list. A typical kitchen is two to four weeks on site, longer if a wall comes out.
Where we renovate kitchens
We are based at Timberlea in Upper Hutt and work across the Wellington region: Wellington city from Karori and Johnsonville to Miramar and Island Bay, Lower Hutt including Petone, Eastbourne and Wainuiomata, all of Upper Hutt, Porirua, and the Kapiti Coast from Paekakariki to Otaki. Travel is built into the quote, not added afterwards.
For Upper Hutt see our kitchen renovations in Upper Hutt page.
Layout, consent and cost
New cabinetry in the same layout with the sink staying put is exempt from building consent. Removing a wall to open the kitchen into the living area, or moving the sink and its drainage, usually needs consent, and a load-bearing wall needs an engineered beam. Cost is driven by cabinetry and benchtop choice, appliances, whether plumbing or electrical moves, and any structural work. We break those out in the quote so the decisions are yours.
What clients say
"Ethan and the team did an awesome job replacing a rotten bottom plate, and replacing a rotten floor in the basement of my rental property. The quote was very detailed and he solved problems I did not realise I had without asking, like swapping the door opening direction so it does not strike the new floor. Will definitely use West Beach for the next few building jobs."

Kitchen renovators who look after the building work
Many kitchen projects involve two businesses: a kitchen company for the cabinetry and a builder for everything around it. As kitchen renovators we take care of the building side, including wall removal, plumbing and electrical coordination, linings, cabinetry installation and benchtop fit, whether the joinery comes from a joiner we use or a kitchen company you have chosen.
If you are opening the kitchen into a bigger living space, our home extensions in Wellington page covers adding floor area, and some clients have their bathroom renovated in the same project so the plumber and electrician are booked once.
